Our History

In 2005 God began to place a deep burning desire for the people of Dell Rapids and the surrounding communities into the heart of Milt Borah and his wife Maddie. It was not just “another church” that they sought to put in Dell Rapids, but rather a deep rooted relationship with God.

It seems in this day and age, people are quick to say that they belong to a particular church or denomination, but do not know what it is like to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. When asked why people go to church where they do, it is so common to hear answers like, “because it is where my family has always gone.” or “I just figured I could go to any church and meet my obligations to God.” When asked why some people do not go to church, it is typical to hear responses such as, “people at church don’t care about me and besides, I don’t look quite right or dress a certain way or have the ‘right’ last name.” Quarry Rock brings two mottos with the church:

1) “Come as you are in every way.” This means anybody and everybody. We want to love and accept all people regardless of their spiritual, emotional, or physical conditions. All that matters is that you come whoever you are and however you come. God loves and receives us.

2) “Making a difference…One life at a time.” We believe God has great plans for Quarry Rock, and those plans begin by loving and accepting people…one at a time. Jesus didn’t seek the big crowds. He found that one person who was in need and He met that need. His example is what we will follow. We will look for the opportunities to meet the needs of people…one person at a time.

We are not interested in just another church. We are not interested in a worldly view of religion. We are interested in loving people and accepting them like Jesus did and still does. We are interested in “leading people to become fully devoted followers of Christ”
